TECHNICAL INSIGHTS

Five production variables that can change plywood bonding results

Veneer moisture, viscosity, glue spread, assembly time and press conditions work as one system.

01

The adhesive is only one part of the system

When a bond-line result changes, the cause is not automatically the adhesive formulation. Veneer condition and line settings can change how the same adhesive wets, transfers and cures.

02

The five variables to record

A practical production worksheet should capture the following values for every panel group.

  • Veneer species, surface condition and moisture
  • Mixed adhesive viscosity and usable time
  • Actual glue spread per square metre
  • Open and closed assembly time
  • Press temperature, pressure and total cycle

03

Use the data to troubleshoot

Once these values are traceable, the technical team can compare failed and accepted panels without relying on memory. That shortens the next adjustment cycle and makes supplier support more effective.

Technical noteThis article provides general industrial guidance. Product selection and operating conditions must be confirmed against the applicable HPA documents and the customer's production trial.
